Economy Ministry to form businesswomen’s council – elected by women -

The Minister of Economy and Trade revealed yesterday that it will start forming a businesswomen’s council to be chosen by businesswomen.

The news came yesterday after Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Hwej, held a meeting that included a number of Libyan businesswomen in order to determine the situation of businesswomen and discuss the problems facing businesswomen in the economy sector.

The meeting discussed the problems and difficulties that businesswomen face in implementing their own projects and ways to address them, and discussed aspects of the support that businesswomen need to develop existing projects and enhance their role in promoting national industries and increasing the volume of commodity exports.

The minister pointed out that the government’s vision puts women in advanced ranks alongside men, so that they contribute to the development and development of all sectors in the country, noting that Libyan laws and legislation do not discriminate between businessmen and women in the business sector.

The businesswomen’s council will be set up with the organization and supervision of the ministry, so that it contributes to setting up a clear work mechanism that supports the efforts of the government and the ministry to move the wheel of the national economy and raise the quality level of local products.

The Ministry said that it will also work to establish a permanent exhibition in coordination with the Libyan Export Promotion Centre and Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in the regions. It aims to target the products of businesswomen and to market their projects by providing opportunities for participation in local and foreign international exhibitions and protecting the local production by organizing the import process and avoiding the dumping policy.
