Huawei launches Awards Cermony in Libya

Huawei has organised annual Seeds for the Future & ICT Academy closing and awarding ceremony for academic year 2022 for the 1st time in Libya with the partnership of Libyan Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Libyan Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation this Sunday on 23rd October at Radisson Blu Hotel in Tripoli.

The event brought together his Excellency Mr. Ali Abed Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, the Director of Media and Communication from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mr. Ali Ahmed Salem, his Excellency Mr. Wang Qimin Chargé d’Affaires of Chinese embassy to Libya and Mr. Li Wenliang General Manager of Huawei Libya Office.

This year of 2022, 27 Libyan students from different geographical regions were selected to participate in this 7-day seeds training program. Also, this year’s edition paid particular attention to the concept of “Tech4Good” which encouraged young people to work on projects based on the latest technological trends to the major social and environmental problems of the region. The Libyan winner Team “Binary Brains” for Tech4Good that managed to represent Libya successfully in Huawei global competition by winning the Bronze award has also received good support in the ceremony from Huawei for their contribution.

In addition to Seeds for the Future and Tech4Good, Huawei is also working to implement the ICT Academy projects in Libya. Currently, Huawei has signed cooperation agreements with 9 Libyan universities. More than 110 students and 74 teachers have enrolled in the program this year. The program provides online learning and certification of cutting-edge fields such as 5G, AI, and cloud to the students.

Speaking at the closing and awarding ceremony, his Excellency Mr. Ali Abed welcomed all the students and expressed his appreciation and particular thanks to Huawei for the strategic partnership that it has established with Libyan government, institutions and universities. And in the same occasion, his Excellency Mr Minister has congratulated Libyan students for their excellent work and contributions that honored the good image of Libya.

For the part of Mr. Ali Ahmed Salem, he has stressed that one country’s growth is not only depending on rapid adaptation to digital transformations but also on the need to use digital tools by highly qualified young people in the ICT sector. That is why that he has expressed his gratitude to Huawei’s contribution for these training and development opportunities offered for Libyan students and universities.

In the same time, His Excellency Mr. Wang Qimin has congratulated Huawei for the continued commitment to the development of ICT talent in Libya. He has also encouraged more fruitful cooperation between Libya and China in the areas of high technologies and talents to raise the bilateral relationship for a higher level.

The general manager of Huawei Libya office Mr. Li Wenliang has expressed his special thanks to his Excellency Mr. Minister Ali Abed, Mr. Ali Ahmed Salem, Dr. Muftah Salem Fetni and all other Libyan friends for their continued support to implement these programs successfully in Libya, by saying that “the fruitful partnership between Huawei and universities in Libya through constant investments in ICT Academy and Seeds for the Future would definitely create more opportunities for young people. Huawei is willing to work with all Libyan partners hands in hands to build a better Libya together with the vision of “Huawei in Libya, Huawei for Libya”.

During this ceremony, Huawei has taken this opportunity to award the top Huawei ICT academies, top Huawei ICT academy certified instructors, top Huawei ICT academy admins, top Huawei ICT academy students and best groups for Seeds for the Future for their continuous dedication and efforts in the past academic year.
