Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah inaugurated Saturday the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre in the Qasr Ahmed district of Misrata.

The ceremony also featured the foundation of a new union for people with permanent disabilities of war victims in the city.

The PM reaffirmed his government's support for this category and vowed to provide them with essential services.

Hundreds of war-wounded people in Libya who have had their limbs amputated or who have become disabled because of conflict are still facing an unknown fate in light of the scarcity of assistive devices that this group needs, such as wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs.

Officials at the Information and Documentation Centre of the Ministry of Social Affairs confirmed that it has no official figures for the war-wounded victims, yet it is still demanding they receive monthly salaries as they are covered by the Social Security Act.
