Due to the security situation, the US State Department has advised US citizens not to travel to several countries, including Libya.

In a press statement, the US State Department said that it had updated travel advisories for about ten different countries, ranking Libya at the fourth level of countries at risk, noting that crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping and armed conflict in Libya are among the main reasons for avoiding travel to it.
