INCHEON, Jan. 27 (Korea Bizwire) — Libya was ranked as the biggest import country for South Korean used cars last year, data showed Wednesday.

433,024 used cars were exported via the Port of Incheon last year, of which 26 percent or 112,747 cars were shipped to Libya, according to the Incheon Main Customs.

The Middle Eastern country has consistently ranked as the biggest import country for South Korean used cars in recent years.

Even in 2020, the country imported 101,825 South Korean used cars, a volume equivalent to 28 percent of the 360,012 units exported via the port during the year.

The second-biggest import country for South Korean used cars was Chile. Chile was not included in the top five list in 2020 but imported 39,151 South Korean used cars last year thanks to improvements in the country’s used car import platforms.

The country also plays the role of distributing South Korean used cars to neighboring countries such as Bolivia and Paraguay after importing the used cars through the Iquique free trade zone.

Following Chile were Jordan with 37,418 units, Turkey with 28,492 units and Egypt with 28,049 units.
