COVID-19: Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine granted marketing authorisation (Ministry of Health)
(TAP) - The Ministry of Health last Monday granted the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine an exceptional and provisional marketing authorisation in Tunisia for a one-year period.
This authorisation was granted as part of the efforts to promote the necessary vaccines and succeed in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus, said a statement of the Ministry of Health released Wednesday.
The authorisation was granted after an assessment of the file submitted by the laboratory by a team of experts from the national drug control laboratory (French: LNCM) and the national pharmacovigilance centre (French: CNPV), as well as experts in virology, toxicology, immunology and communicable diseases.
This organisational framework could speed up the acquisition of the vaccine in the shortest possible time and Tunisia therefores becomes the first African country to grant marketing authorisation to the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine, according to the same source.
