Economy Ministry has begun to implement its digital transformation plan

The Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Hwej said that his Ministry had begun to implement its plan on Libya’s digital transformation and the provision of services electronically.

The Minister was speaking yesterday at the opening of the Libya e-commerce Expo 2021 being held from 1-3 August at the Tripoli International Fairgrounds. The event was supported by the Economy Ministry’s Libya Trade Network.‎ Over 23 companies are participating in the event, including some of Libya’s leading banks and Fintech companies.

Minister Hwej said his Ministry had concluded agreements to implement services with several entities including Al-Madar’s (Mobile phone company) Sadad mobile phone payment App, as well as the Civil Status Department and the General Authority for Communications and Information.‎

During the opening, the Minister also announced the launch of the electronic platform of Libya’s Trade Network, which he said will work to enhance confidence in electronic business transactions and provide the necessary protection for the consumer from fraud or deception and misinformation, in addition to stimulating and developing e-commerce activities.‎

The Minister said that Libya is counting on the local and foreign private sector to activate e-commerce and localize needed and new knowhow.
