The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) expressed its rejection on Sunday of what it described “the inaccuracies and errors” that were mentioned in the report of Global Witness regarding the bank's performance and accounts.

The CBL said in a statement that it had previously provided the Global Witness with all the necessary explanations and data, as part of its commitment to the principle of transparency.

It also condemned the ignorance of the organization for those clarifications in its recent report, which confirms the report's lack of professionalism, objectivity and impartiality, according to the statement.

Earlier, Global Witness claimed that Libya appears to be losing millions of dollars a year through fraudulent use of its Letters of Credit system, run by the Central Bank of Libya.
