Conference to enhance youth role in promoting internal tourism starts

Amman, Aug. 5 (Petra) -- Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Issa Gammoh has said tourism is the linchpin for the sectors of transportation, agriculture, education and entertainment (sectors that provide the most jobs), adding that their contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) stood at 12.4 percent in 2018.

During the opening of the 'Tourism Nashama' conference that was organized Monday by the Nashama Tourism Awareness Company, Gammoh said that the ministry will keep working toward achieving more progress in the tourism sector and its developmental goals and economic role.

He pointed out that Jordanians expenditure on domestic tourism has reached some JOD290 million, underscoring the importance of this conference in developing tourism itineraries and promoting internal tourism.
