Ethiopian Airlines set to restructure its U.S Network

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA (ADV) – The Ethiopian Airline is set to add frequencies and shift gateways from the summer of 2019 in its United State (US) Network.

Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tewolde GebreMariam, said their new route structure with additional frequencies to multiple gateways, and the opening of a new route to Houston are aimed at responding to the market demand. He said it is aimed at availing the best possible connectivity to over 60 African destinations.

“The U.S is among our most important markets owing to the presence of a large African community and growing business and tourism ties with Africa,

“Onboard our flights, our customers will continue to enjoy our premium and award-winning service on the most technologically advanced commercial aircraft, the Boeing 787,” added GebreMariam.

He also noted that the company will keep on expanding its U.S and African network so as to facilitate people-to-people ties and the flow of investment, trade and tourism which is in line with their Vision 2025 strategic roadmap.

As part of a restructuring of its U.S routes, the airline is set to offer direct directs flights from Bush Airport to a West Africa destination that is still yet to be determined, three times per week.

The new Houston flights are set to be the only connection between Houston and Africa. They are set to facilitate the travel of the huge African community in the Houston area, and oil and other companies doing business in the continent.

Flight to Washington D.C are set to be increased from current daily to ten weekly flights. The new additional three flights will depart from Addis Ababa in the morning, pass through Abidjan and arrive in Washington D.C. in the evening, just to name a few.

According to the airline company, the new U.S network is aimed at giving passengers travelling between the U.S and all over Africa the best possible connectivity and shortest routes.
