World Bank offers to boost Libya’s ailing economy

The World Bank has offered to boost the Libyan economic, financial and health as well as power sectors in a meeting with the Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Serraj.

The meeting took place on Monday when the officials from the World Bank Middles East and North Africa like Hafed Ghanem, Mary Francois and the representative in Libya Marwan Abbasi visited Al-Sirraj to bolster cooperation.

The World Bank also offered to help Libya overcome it current financial troubles, with Al-Serraj asking the officials to set up dates for meetings with Libyan planning and financial ministries’ officials and experts to speed up the implementation of the projects.

The World Bank also proposed to help Libya in rebuilding plans and projects via different venues like the Islamic Bank and Bank of Africa and as per mechanisms placed by experts from Libya and the other parties.

“We are offering Libya a funding opportunity that can help support the service projects and the infrastructure projects in order to boost its ailing economy.” The World Bank officials told Al-Serraj in the meeting.
